Maple Shade community mourns tragic deaths of student and his mother

The community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Maple Shade, is responding with prayer and support after learning that one of its students, first-grader Anish Narra, and his mother, Sasikala Narra, 38, were killed in their apartment March 23.
“We learned with great sadness on March 24 about the deaths of our student, Anish Narra, and his mother,” according to a statement on the school website. “We ask all those in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help School community and the public at-large to join in praying for Anish and Sasi, and we offer our deepest condolences to all those who mourn them during this time of great loss. May they rest in peace.”
According to news reports, Sasikala Narra’s husband found his wife and son stabbed to death upon his arrival home from work around 9:30 p.m. No arrests have been made in the killings. The deaths are being investigated by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit as well as Maple Shade law enforcement officials.
JoAnn Tier, diocesan superintendent of Catholic schools, said counselors on staff in Holy Cross Academy, Delran, were on hand March 27 to help Our Lady of Perpetual Help School students and families cope with the tragedy.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish hosted a memorial service March 31.
