Manalapan parish to offer women's Bible study throughout fall
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
St. Thomas More Parish, Manalapan, will offer a women’s Bible study titled “Walking With Purpose” this fall. The program will meet for 22 weeks beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 26. An information session will be held 10 a.m. Sept. 12 in St. Thomas More’s Petri Hall at 186 Gordons Corner Road.
The program aims to bring women into a closer relationship with Christ, said parishioner Christine Melilli, who will be facilitating the program. Personal study and small group discussions each week will link everyday challenges with the solutions provided through the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church.
Melilli, who has been a parish catechist for five years, said she felt called to seek a women’s Bible study after dealing with some difficult life issues.
“I am a cradle Catholic and have always had a good relationship with God my entire life,” she said, adding that when hard times struck, she felt called “to pick up my high school Bible,” which in turn, led to increased prayers. “The more I read Scripture, the more I longed for it.”
After searching for a women’s Bible study in the area but finding none, she approached parish clergy. With their help and approval and some research, the program is set to begin this fall.
The program is free to attend, though participants will be asked to order a $40 workbook. For information or to register, email Melilli at [email protected]. Registrations will be accepted on Sept. 12.
