Students in St. Joseph School, Toms River, watch a live video feed of the Oct. 7 Catholic Schools Mass from their classrooms. The Mass was celebrated in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, with Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., as principal celebrant. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade students discussed the Bishop’s homily in their classes and “loved seeing their classmates and priests,” reported school senior vice principal Julie James. The youngsters spotted many familiar faces in the procession, including St. Joseph Parish pastor Father Scott Shaffer, parochial vicars Fathers Carlos Aguirre and Garry Koch. The students also recognized high school students from Donovan Catholic, which shares the Toms River school campus. “Many commented that next year they would like to go,” James said. Courtesy photo
