St. Francis Community Center, Brant Beach, and the swim teams of Southern Regional High School, Manahawkin, are co-sponsoring their 14th annual fundraiser with a dip in the icy-cold Atlantic Ocean on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4.

“Super Plunge XIV” will take place at the 48th Street beach in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township at 1 p.m. and will conclude in plenty of time to get home for the Big Game. Pre-registration is required and takes place at the Community Center Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. Forms may be picked up in advance at the front desk of the Community Center or printed from their website at stfranciscenterlbi.org.

Registration is $30 per adult or $15 per student on or before Jan. 28, and $35 for adults and $20 for students afterwards. Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee. Sponsor forms are available online.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, and wristbands must be worn at the time of the plunge. Plungers should bring their courage, bathing suit, towels, blankets and other warm items for post-plunge comfort. Costumes of all kinds are also encouraged.

There are festivities at the Community Center post-plunge with hot chocolate, coffee, tea and goodies to warm everyone. Prizes will be for youngest and oldest plunger, best costume and most funds raised overall.
