'Let's Talk Adoption' conference slated for May

New Jersey’s 37th annual “Let’s Talk Adoption” Conference will be held May 4, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Busch Campus Center, Rutgers University, Piscataway.

More than 30 workshops will be offered for pre- and post-adoptive parents, foster parents, child welfare professionals, adoptees and kinship guardians.

Keynote speaker Adam Pertman, CEO and founder of the National Center on Adoption and Permanency, will give the address, “Rethinking Adoption in the 21st Century: Progressing from ‘Child Placement’ to ‘Family Success.’”

Continuing education hours (N.J., N.Y., Pa.) are provided by the Office of Continuing Education, Rutgers School of Social Work.  There is a $20 processing fee for CEHs with a maximum of five CEHs. Licensed professional counselors CEHS, approval pending.

The event is coordinated by Concerned Persons for Adoption, and co-sponsored by the N.J. Interagency Adoption Council and Rutgers University School of Social Work.

Early registration is $60 per person, $100 couple; walk-in registration, $85 person, $150 couple; student fee, $30.
