Parishes of the diocese will offer the following opportunities during Lent:

St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, 33 Woodland Road, will hold the following programs; Monday Lenten Bible studies at 2 p.m. “Meeting Christ in Scripture and Prayer” in the AFF Lounge-Rucki Hall and at 7 p.m., “The Synoptic Gospels” in the Brennan Hall meeting room; Souper Supper Lenten Twilight Retreat with Father Michael Hall, parochial vicar, March 21, 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Rucki Hall, a light Lenten supper will be provided, to attend contact the parish; Healing Mass, March 26, 11 a.m. in the church; Seder Supper, April 16, 5 p.m. in Brennan Hall, to attend contact the parish; Stations of the Cross, every Friday, 8 p.m.; Children’s Stations of the Cross, April 20, 5 p.m.; Living Stations of the Cross, April 15 and 22, 8 p.m. with the youth group. Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish, Hamilton, will hold Stations of the Cross with Benediction every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in St. Anthony Church, 626 S. Olden Ave., Trenton; Stations of the Cross without Benediction will be held in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3816 E. St. Mary Parish, Middletown, will hold a Lenten parish mission from March 21-23, beginning with a short mission talk following the noon Mass on March 21 in St. Mary Chapel, 26 Leonardville Road. Our Lady of Good Counsel, Moorestown, will host two sessions on “Salvation – What does it mean?” a fresh look at the meaning of Salvation in the light of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection, on the church campus in Heritage House at 42 W. Main Street March 16 and 23 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Session one will discuss “The Suffering and Death of Jesus” and session two will discuss “The Resurrection; Stations of the Cross” March 18, 25 and April 8 at 7 p.m. for families in the church; April 11, 12 and 14 at 4:15 p.m. in the church and chapel for religious education students; Living Stations portrayed by eighth graders, April 15 at 7 p.m. for families and April 21 at 10 a.m. for OLGC School students and families in the church; “Seven Last Words of Christ” prayerfully presented by the parish youth group, April 17 and 22 at 7 p.m. in the church. The Upper Room Diocesan Spiritual Center, Neptune, located at 3455 W. Bangs Avenue, Bldg. 2 will hold the following retreats and/or programs:

Lenten directed prayer weekend retreat March 25 from 7 p.m. to March 27 at 3 p.m.
This is an opportunity to spend time with God in a personal way while enjoying an atmosphere of prayerful silence. Each person meets with a spiritual director daily to share what happened in his or her prayers and dialogue with God. Cost is $150. Registration is required with a $50 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit one week in advance. 

Lenten Taize Prayer – March 28, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
An evening of communal contemplative prayer, this Lenten prayer session will use the format of the Taize community in France. The presenter will be the Faithful Love Music Group. Psalm singing, Scripture readings, silence and prayer will be included. Free will offering accepted.

David Haas: A Lenten Concert – April 15, 7:30 p.m. in St. David the King Church, 1 New Village Road, West Windsor
One of the outstanding composers in the world, David Haas has produced more than 40 original recordings of liturgical music including “You Are Mine,” “Blessed Are They,” “Table Songs” and “We Have Been Told.”  Cost is $30, $35 at the door.  Registration required by April 11.

St. Paul Parish, Princeton, will host a free lecture called “The Gospel of Matthew in Lent” by St. Ursula Sister Carol Perry March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Spiritual Center at 214 Nassau Street. Sister Carol is the resident Bible scholar at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City, where she leads studies in their adult education program. Her chief emphasis is on making the characters and stories of the Bible come to life with applications for today’s world.
