St. Ann Parish, Lawrenceville, will celebrate its annual novena in honor of St. Ann, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, July 18-26. The novena preachers are Capuchin Franciscan Father Senan Taylor, a spiritual director, preacher and social worker, and Sister of St. Joseph Karen Cavanagh, pastoral associate, family minister and retreat director.

The novena will open July 18 with parishioners joining in a Day of Service with the Loaves and Fishes program in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, where they will serve meals to people in need.

Parish weekend Masses will be celebrated according to schedule at 5 p.m. July 18 and at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. July 19.  Novena prayers will be recited at all Masses and retreat preachers will be introduced.

A schedule for the week, with each day highlighting a different theme, follows:

July 20 • Remembering Who We Are • 9 a.m. Mass, Morning Prayer, reflection with Novena Prayers; 7:30 p.m., Evening Prayer and reflection with Novena Prayers.

July 21 • Remembering Whose We Are (Adoration) • 9 a.m. Mass, Morning Prayer and reflection with Novena Prayers followed by coffee and conversation; 7:30 p.m., Evening Prayer and reflection with Novena Prayer.

July 22 • Remembering God’s Healing Touch • 9 a.m. Mass, Service of Anointing and reflection with Novena Prayers followed by coffee and conversation; 7:30 p.m., Service of Anointing with reflection and novena prayers.

July 23 • Remembering God’s Mercy • 9 a.m. Mass, Morning Prayer and reflection with novena prayers followed by opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation; 7:30 p.m., Community Reconciliation service, reflection and novena prayers.

July 24 • Remembering Our Roots and Call to be Light in the World • 9 a.m. Mass, Morning Prayer with reflection and novena prayers; 7:30 p.m. Evening Prayer, reflection with novena prayers and St. Ann candlelight procession and blessing with relic of St. Ann. An ice cream social will follow.

On July 25-26, St. Ann Parish will observe Grandparents Weekend. On July 25, Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. with novena prayers following.  Weekend Masses will be celebrated according to schedule and will be followed by novena prayers and blessing of grandparents.

Parishioners are encouraged to bring flowers for the St. Ann Altar. Vases will be provided. St. Ann candles will also be available for purchase. Parishioners are also encouraged to bring pictures of their grandparents which will be hung in the Gallery of Light. The picture should be prepared to hang and parishioners should write their name and phone number on the back of the picture.
