Joy: The Heart of It All

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The most significant manifestation of a heart full of faith is joy. On Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Brant Beach, will be hosting a day-long retreat on finding “Joy: the heart of it all.”

The presenter will be Sr. Jeanne Williams, OSF, of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY. She will use events from the life of St. Francis of Assisi and excerpts from Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (“The Joy of the Gospel”) to help participants discuss how to find joy in the midst of our daily lives and, in turn, share it generously with others.

Sr. Jeanne currently ministers at the Franciscan Center in Tampa, Florida, and serves as Director of the Franciscan Sisters’ Associate Program. She holds an MA in Theology from St. Bonaventure University and an MA in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction from Neumann University. In addition to many years of experience in presenting retreats and Franciscan spiritual programs, her areas of expertise include Franciscan Spirituality, liturgical music, and a holistic spirituality that integrates body, mind, and spirit.

There is no charge for the retreat, which will be held at St. Thomas of Villanova worship site in Surf City. Beverages will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch.
