Josephine Ann Testa, mother of Father John Testa

 Funeral services were held Feb. 28 in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River, for Josephine Ann Testa, mother of Father John Testa, who serves as the parish’s parochial vicar. She was 93.

Born in Highland Park, Mrs. Testa lived in Highland Park and Edison before moving to Ortley Beach in 1978. She worked in New Brunswick as a seamstress for many years as well as in the rectory and convent in St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Highland Park.

During the years she lived in Ortley Beach, Mrs. Testa was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Seaside Heights, where she was the treasurer of the Altar-Rosary Society for many years. She was also the treasurer of the Ortley Beach Area Seniors and served on the election board, working at the District 26 polls. For some 30 summers, she also worked on the boardwalk of Seaside Heights as a ticket agent.

Mrs. Testa was predeceased by her husband, Francis, and her cousin. In addition to Father Testa, she is survived by two sisters, Blanche of Milltown and Victoria of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven nieces, four nephews and many friends.

Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery, New Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, N.J. 08757 or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 100 Grant Ave., Seaside Heights, N.J. 08751.
