Italian folklore group to perform at Seaside Heights parishOur Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Seaside Heights, will host Scialapopolo, an Italian folklore group, during the 10 a.m. Mass Oct. 11 as part of the town’s 24th annual Ocean County Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival.

Scialapopolo, which hails from Capri, Naples in Italy, is comprised of more than 35 experienced singers, dancers and musicians in colorful ethnic costumes who will perform native music and dance. The repertoire of the group is composed of well-known classical Neapolitan songs played on both modern and traditional Italian instruments, and dancers will perform the tarantella and other Italian ethnic dances.

The parade is due to begin at 1 p.m. on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights.
