On the heels of the canonization of St. Teresa of Kolkata, the Diocese of Trenton has just released a short-form documentary looking back at the 1995 visit of then-Mother Teresa to St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in the capital city. The 25-minute video tells the story of the diminutive founder of the Missionaries of Charity through the reflections of priests, deacons, religious and laity who witnessed her presence in Trenton and whose lives were touched by her words.

“In the Presence of a Saint,” with a run time of approximately 25 minutes, was produced by the diocesan Department of Multimedia Production featuring moving images and original video footage of Mother Teresa during the Mass that she and her sisters attended in Trenton June 18, 1995.

The video opens with the narration of Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., who captures the essence of the newly canonized saint and her embrace of so many around the world.

“She was simply mother to everyone, and continues to be,” he said, adding that “joy was felt around the world” on the occasion of her Sept. 4 canonization by Pope Francis in Rome.

Speaking of those who experienced her visit to the Diocese, he added, “the canonization only confirmed what they had already known: they were in the presence of a saint, who left each of them with powerful, life-changing memories.”

The film features poignant moments from St. Teresa’s message to diocesan faithful, including comments about the importance of love and service which continue to reverberate in the hearts and minds of those who heard her message firsthand or watched the video that came out afterward.

“In the Presence of a Saint” is also available for purchase on DVD for $10 per copy.
