St. Mary Parish, New Monmouth, served as the host parish for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the New Jersey Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The two day-event, which began the evening of Sept. 22 and continued the following day, included dynamic speakers, opportunities for prayer and worship and a Mass celebrated by Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M.

In the homily he preached Sept. 23, Bishop O'Connell reflected on the "great feast of Pentecost" when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Church.

"Today is another Pentecost for us as we gather for the 50th anniversary of the New Jersey Catholic Charismatic Renewal!" said Bishop O'Connell. "For us, really, every day is Pentecost because every day the Holy Spirit fills our hearts!"
