St. Benedict Parish, Holmdel, is offering two opportunities this winter for Catholics eager to learn more about their faith.

The “Into the Bible” Scripture Series, held on four consecutive Wednesday nights, is an introduction to the Bible which examines the Books of Genesis through Exodus. Father Garry Koch, pastor, will offer participants insight on the Bible as literary form (Jan. 18); the Covenant and being shackled to God (Jan. 25); the genealogy of the Israelites as found in Scripture (Feb. 1), and the exile to exodus (Feb. 8).

Each session of “Into the Bible” begins at 7:30 p.m. in the church. No RSVP is needed.

“Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible” is an eight-session program open to both men and women looking to understand the Good Book and their place in it.  Ascension Press author Jeff Cavins helps uncover the story woven throughout Scripture so readers might get the “big picture” of the Bible. In this engaging journey, participants will be able to make sense of the Bible, discover the remarkable connections between the Old and New Testaments and see how the Sacraments, Church and entire Catholic Faith is rooted in Scripture.

Meetings are Tuesdays from Jan. 24 to March 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Father Anderson Library. For questions, contact study leader Ray Yuhas at 848-466-1580 or [email protected]. To register for the program, see the Ascension Press website at https://study.ascensionpress.com/pick/holmdel-nj-st-benedict-church. Cost is $19.95 plus shipping and handling for the book.

St. Benedict Parish is located at 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. For further information on either program, see stbenedictholmdel.org, or call 732-264-4712.
