School’s out for summer – or is it?
While classes might not be in session, there is certainly no shortage of activities to keep students occupied this summer at high schools across the Diocese of Trenton.
From dance lessons to writing workshops, students have opportunities to continue their learning and development in between the academic years, often within the comfortable confines of their very own school buildings.
“It keeps their brains sharp, and it keeps them in the academic mode,” said Carolyn Bliss, administrative coordinator in Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, noting the benefit of helping students transition into the fall semester without such a long catch-up period.
Summer offerings include athletics, as well. Trenton Catholic Academy, Hamilton, president Sister of St.
Joseph Dorothy Payne said that it is something administrators are considering for next summer, specifically in basketball and soccer.
“Our program is probably the strongest in the area, so logically, now that we have put air conditioning in our gym, we are looking toward maybe going out to lower grades and having some camps in here next year,” she said.
Below is a listing of some of the many offerings from diocesan high schools this summer.
