High school students talk vocations with Bishop O'Connell
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and key diocesan staff came together for an afternoon focusing on vocation awareness June 16 in the bishop’s Lawrence home.
Twelve high school students signed on for the day, which featured typical barbecue fare and an opportunity to get to know Bishop O’Connell and other priests who attended. Most importantly, the young men were able to meet like-minded peers and establish connections with others who were discerning the possibility of a vocation to the priesthood.
The aim of the gathering was to create an environment where the teens felt comfortable and safe in discussing their thoughts about the priesthood.
The Vocations Awareness Days will continue June 23 when young men between the ages of 18 and 25 will gather with the bishop and his team.
