St. Aloysius School, Jackson, reintroduced a favorite fundraising activity, Heavenly Hat Day, Oct. 15.
This fundraiser was begun by Anthony D. Leanna when he was 10 years old and was sponsored by the school’s social justice group. This year, the school raised $360 for the organization in which proceeds will be used to purchase new hats for those who lose their hair during cancer treatments or other medical conditions that cause hair loss.
To date, the organization has been able to donate more than 1,800,000 hats to medical patients in the United States.
Teachers and students in St. Aloysius School appreciate the opportunity to help others through Heavenly Hat Day.
“It shows that we need to pay more attention to others and that to give is better than to receive,” commented seventh grader Lauren McCoy.
