Grant enhances phone system for domestic violence services agency
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
The $15,000 grant has allowed for the agency to replace an antiquated phone system with newer technology that will enhance access to emergency services for domestic abuse victims and the thousands of individuals and families who seek help from the agency each year.
The new system will make it easier to forward calls on the 24-hour hotline to another location, a useful option in the case of a power outage or evacuation – as was the case in many Ocean County towns as Superstorm Sandy struck last fall.
The system will also provide for clearer communications and voice messages.
“The entire staff of Providence House is grateful to the OceanFirst Foundation for its ongoing support and for being a dedicated partner in promoting peace in the home,” said Mary Pettrow, associate director of Providence House.
OceanFirst Bank, founded in 1902, has had a long history of providing service to the community. The bank’s foundation has donated more than $24 million to over 600 nonprofit organizations in Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties to date.
Since its founding in 1902, Ocean-First Bank (www.oceanfirst.com) has built a solid reputation and legacy as a good neighbor and responsible corporate citizen.
