Georgian Court seeks instructors for Lifelong Learning courses

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The McAuley Institute for Lifelong Learning (MILL) in Georgian Court University, Lakewood, is accepting proposals from potential instructors who can teach courses during its Fall 2014 session, which begins in September. McAuley Institute classes are designed especially for adults who are at least 50 and enjoy an intellectual challenge.

“The McAuley Institute attracts members who truly believe in the power of lifelong learning,” said Alice Velez, Georgian Court’s director of development and MILL. “To serve them, we need instructors who share in that belief. MILL teachers understand that there is always an opportunity to grow and know more.”

MILL classes include short courses that can be completed in one day to others that meet once a week for five to six weeks. Subjects cover a broad range of subjects, from exploring historical figures in the Bible to understanding astrobiology and exoplanets.

Areas of continuing interest among MILL members include bridge, mah jongg, T'ai Chi Chih, religious poetry, and homeland security.

Instructors are expected to structure their classes for mature learners, many of whom are retired professionals, educators, or residents of the area’s active adult communities. The deadline for proposals is May 15.
