Funeral services scheduled for Deacon George M. Carlin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May  15 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, a worship site of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Burlington, for Deacon George M.  Carlin, who died May 10. He was 85.

Born in Philadelphia, Deacon Carlin graduated from Northeast Catholic High School. He served his country during World War II and the Korean War. Following his service, he attended West Chester College, West Chester, Pa., and studied teaching. He married Ann G. Schrader in 1956 and continued his education, earning a master’s degree from Temple University, Philadelphia. The Carlins moved to Burlington and Deacon Carlin began his 32-year career as principal in the Willingboro School District while raising his five children.

Deacon Carlin was ordained a permanent deacon May 9, 1992, and was assigned to St. Paul Parish, which is now a worship site of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

In addition to his wife, Ann, Deacon Carlin is survived by his five children: Patricia Gallo (Bob Gibson); George (Leesa) Carlin; Michael (Hyun Jin Choi) Carlin; Colleen (Jeff) Spicer), and Brian (Kristina) Carlin; 13 grandchildren;  a brother, Donald (Cass) Carlin and Annette Farell.

A viewing for Deacon Carlin will be held May 15 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington, with the Mass of Christian Burial following in St. Paul Church, located at 223 E.  Union St., Burlington.

Entombment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Burlington. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Paul Renovation Fund, St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 223 E. Union St., Burlington, N.J. 08016.
