A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 17 in St. Veronica Church, Howell, for Deacon Theodore Gularek who died Nov. 13. He was 78.

Deacon Gularek was born in Brooklyn and resided in Jackson for the past 49 years. He was ordained a permanent deacon by Bishop John C. Reiss May 10, 1986 in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton.

At St. Veronica Parish, Deacon Gularek was active in the Legion of Mary and Monday Night Prayer Novenas. He assisted at daily Mass.

Deacon Gularek is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; one daughter, Jeannette Haislip, and two grandchildren, Tyler Garrett and Emily Hanna.
