Funeral services for Carolyn Sondeen, wife of deacon, retired diocesan employee

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Aug. 17 in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Cinnaminson, for Carolyn L. (Vient) Sondeen who died Aug. 8. She was 71.

Mrs. Sondeen was the wife of Deacon Carl R. Sondeen of St. Charles Borromeo and a retired employee of the Diocese of Trenton’s human resources department.

A resident of Delran, Mrs. Sondeen was born in Boston, Mass., and was a former resident of Cinnaminson, where she raised her three children. In addition to her employment with the Diocese, she was involved in the Tri Boro Council of Churches and various ministries in her parish. She enjoyed biking, hiking, quilting, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Sondeen was the beloved wife for 48 years of Carl R. Sondeen; loving mother of Leslie Opila (Bill), Mark Sondeen (Danielle) and Brian Sondeen (Michelle); loving grandmother of Katie, Elise, Lauren, Evan, Kyle and Leif; and sister of Phyllis, Mary Lou, Alice, Marjorie, Walter, Kathleen, Bernice, the late William, the late Jean, the late Madeline, the late Wynona and the late Suzanne. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her life celebration and viewing from 10 to 11:15 a.m., Aug. 17, in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Branch Pike and Pomona Rd., Cinnaminson, where her funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Sondeen may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 2226 Riverton Road, Cinnaminson, N.J. 08077 or Catholic Charities, 801 Burlington Ave., Delanco, N.J. 08075.
