Funeral for Sister Marcyann Kowalczyk

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Christ the King Church, Snyder, N.Y., July 18 for Sister Marcyann Kowalczyk, who died July 14 in Stella Niagara Health Center, Stella Niagara, N.Y. She was 73.

Sister Marcyann was born June 6, 1938, in Buffalo, N.Y. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity at Stella Niagara Sept. 4, 1955, and made her profession of vows Aug. 18, 1958.

Sister Marcyann was a 1951 graduate of St. Joachim School, Buffalo, N.Y. She was educated at the Seminary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Stella Niagara, N.Y., Rosary Hill (Daemen) College, Amherst, N.Y., and St. Bonaventure University, Olean, N.Y.

Sister Marcyann ministered in schools in the Dioceses of Trenton and Buffalo, N.Y. In the Trenton Diocese, she served in Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth, as a history teacher, from 1962-1965.

Sister Marcyann was predeceased by her parents, a brother and a niece. She is survived by a sister, a nephew, a niece and many cousins.

Burial was in the Sisters’ Cemetery at Stella Niagara. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund, 4421 Lower River Rd., Stella Niagara, N.Y., 14144 or Sacred Heart Academy, 3860 Main St., Eggertsville, N.Y. 14226.
