July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

St. Pius X Parish, Forked River, will observe the feast of its parish namesake, St. Pius X, with a host of activities Aug. 21-24.

The schedule for Aug. 21 includes Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding with Benediction at 7 p.m. Parishioners will be encouraged to view their time together in adoration as a ministry.

A Mass of Anointing will be celebrated Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. with a luncheon following in the parish hall. To register for the luncheon, participants must contact the parish office at 609-693-5107.

Though healing Masses with the administration of the Sacrament of Anointing are celebrated periodically, St. Pius X Parish is including the celebration of a Mass during the feast day observance with a special invitation extended to senior parishioners to attend.

On Aug. 23, Masses will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and at 4 p.m. Additional activities have yet to be scheduled.

On Aug. 24, a children’s Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with a feast day parish breakfast following at 11 a.m. in the parish hall. Tickets will be $5 per person and there is no charge for children under age five. Only 250 tickets will be sold.

The universal Church celebrates the feast of St. Pius X Aug. 21. St. Pius X is the patron of pilgrims, first communicants and the Diocese of Des Moines, Iowa. He was chosen as the 257th pope in 1903. St. Pius X is especially remembered for his efforts in destroying the last remnants of Jansenism, promoting reading of the Bible by all faithful and harsh denunciation of modernism as “the summation of all heresies.”
