Formation Day planned for catechists Feb. 3

The diocesan Department of Catechesis will sponsor a Formation Day program Feb. 3, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold.
Titled, “Structure for Success – Tips That Replace ‘Survive’ with ‘Thrive,’” the program is open to catechists, parish catechetical leaders and anyone using home study for religious education. The daylong event will include a 10:30 a.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and presentation by Immaculate Heart of Mary Sister Patricia McCormack.
Sister Patricia, an international formation-education consultant, holds a doctorate in education in private school administration as well as a bachelor’s degree in theology and sociology and a master’s degree in K-8 education. Her background includes practical experience in both classrooms and administration at the elementary, secondary and college levels. She is a member of the congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Immaculata, Pa.
Currently, Sister Patricia is director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Office of Formative Support for Parents and Teachers, Philadelphia. She has authored numerous books and articles, including the “Parent Partnership Handbook” feature of Today’s Catholic Teacher magazine.
Registration is required by Jan. 26. Participants can register at www.dioceseoftrenton.org/2018formationday. Cost for the event is $15, which includes a 9:30 a.m. light breakfast and lunch. Check-in for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Vendors and books for sale will also be available throughout the day.
