As part of its ongoing Spirituality and the Arts program, St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake, will welcome 16-year-old violinist Kingston Ho to perform at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 1 in St Catharine Church.

Ho is the 2017 first-prize winner of the Grace Gimbel Young Artist Scholarship competition of the Suburban Music Study Club of Madison. The two young musicians who tied for second place performed in the church in May; the third-place winner took to the stage in July.

Spirituality and the Arts began at St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish during a spirituality committee meeting held by pastor, Father Harold Cullen, in January 2016. Michaline Manno, St. Catharine-St. Margaret parishioner and chairwoman of the SMSC, helped arrange for all of the scholarship winners to perform in St. Catharine Church.

Ho will be accompanied by internationally known concert pianist Yevgeny Morozov.

The event will also feature works of art by two local painters.

Four religious icons  made by Sister of Charity Margaret Tierney will be on display.  Sister Margaret oversees Pastoral Care for St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish. Two oil paintings by Frederica Castle of Ocean Grove will also be on exibit. The works are  titled “Divine Park in the Fall”  and “Salt Spray.”

Attendees will be able to view the artwork before and after the concert and meet the artists.

A free-will offering for the program will benefit St. Catharine-St. Margaret’s music ministry.
