Festival of El Senor de Giron planned in Hightstown

St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Hightstown, is will hold a three-day El Senor de Giron festival Oct. 11-13.
The festival is replicated after the Fiesta de Toros del Señor de Girón, which is held each year in Giron, Ecuador. The festival celebrates the Señor de las Aguas de Girón, an image of the crucified Christ that is located in Girón's cathedral.
The celebration in Hightstown will begin Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the church. The image of El Senor de Giron will be carried to a parishioner’s house located at 112 Spring Crest, Hightstown.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, group members will gather at the house at 5 a.m. for recitation of the Rosary and again for Mass in the church at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
On Oct. 13, a procession with the image will begin at Rogers Elementary School at 10 a.m. and proceed to St. Anthony of Padua Church where Mass will be celebrated at noon.
