Farewell, Father Ron
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
It was a whirlwind weekend around St. James Parish, Pennington, June 23-24 as parishioners gathered to bid farewell to, Msgr. Ronald Bacovin, who retired after serving as their pastor since 1999. Msgr. Bacovin, who also held numerous diocesans positions, including director of the Office of Priest Personnel, celebrated the parish’s four weekend Masses. The 11:30 a.m. Mass on June 24, however, was especially meaningful for him, with more than 450 people in attendance, including members of his family. Following the Mass, Msgr. Bacovin was also surprised to have a plaque presented in his honor for the parish’s new conference and classroom, which was constructed during his time as pastor. The day’s festivities capped off with a picnic. Msgr. Bacovin has since taken up residence in Villa Vianney, the diocesan facility for retired priests.
