July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Faithful of the Diocese of Trenton will have the opportunity to stand for the sanctity of life alongside hundreds of thousands from around the world during the Jan. 18 March For Life in Washington, D.C. Themed “Unique From Day One: Pro-Life is Pro-Science,” the events in the nation’s capital will mark the 46th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion in the United States.

Those in the Diocese who wish to travel to Washington may still find available space on buses sponsored by parishes and various Knights of Columbus councils from all four counties of the Diocese. Click here to see the most up-to-date list of buses that will be traveling to and from Washington on Jan. 18, and their corresponding contact information.

Faithful who wish to gather locally in advance of the March are encouraged to take part in a pro-life Mass that will be celebrated by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold, at 7 p.m. Jan. 17. A live stream of the Mass will be carried by the Diocese and can be viewed on www.dioceseoftrenton.org

Attendees of the Rally for Life, which will take place on the steps of the N.J. State House in Trenton Jan. 22, are invited to begin their day with a Mass for Life at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton. The Cathedral is within walking distance to the State House, and the Rally for Life kicks off at 11 a.m.

Bishop O’Connell is also calling upon the faithful to take part in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ initiative, “9 Days for Life,” the annual novena running from Jan. 14-22. This multi-faceted novena focuses on the respect and protection of every human life. Each day, a different intention is accompanied by a short reflection and related information.
