The streets of Red Bank were illuminated with faith, joy and song on the evening of Dec. 12 as more than 1,100 joined in a procession in celebration of the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Red Bank, organized the annual procession, which begins in West Side Park and ends at the church.

Participation this year topped last year’s turnout of about 800. During the procession, faithful carried the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the form of a statute hoisted in the air while joining in song. Participants and onlookers were treated to mariachi guitar players, song, prayer and joyful expressions of both heritage and faith. At the conclusion of the procession, the celebration continued in St. Anthony Parish hall as participants gathered for Mass as well as more singing and a gathering complete with refreshments and homemade tamales. The event proved to be a celebration for individuals and families of all ages, with youngsters joining their parents for the occasion.
