The evening featured guest speakers Victoria Taylor Naoe of Silent No More Awareness, John Muka of 365 Days for Life Hamilton, and JoAnn DiNoia of Good Counsel Homes-South Jersey, Riverside.

The approximately 30 people in attendance learned about truth, action and hope at the event sponsored by the Respect Life Committee of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish.

The evening was emceed by Deacon Rich Acari, committee moderator, who opened with welcoming remarks and prayer. Naoe shared her personal testimony and recovery from abortion while Muka invited people to join the prayer vigil at the abortion clinic, Princeton Women’s Services, located at 1345 Kuser Rd. in Hamilton every Saturday from 7-11 a.m., even if they can only stay to pray one Rosary.

DiNoia focused on the work of Good Counsel Homes which helps homeless pregnant women, new mothers and their children. Through their programs every mom receives life skills training to become self-sufficient.

Following her talk, John Connolly, a committee member, played his guitar and sang, “I Want to Live” which he co-wrote with Kim Yarson, a fellow respect life advocate.

The evening was inspired by Pope Benedict’s words of encouragement on Sept. 18, 2010, when he addressed the crowds in Hyde Park, London, saying, “Each of us has a mission, each of us is called to change the world, to work for a culture of life, a culture forged by love and respect for the dignity of each human person.”

Diane DiGiovacchino, a member of the respect life committee, said the goal of the event was “to educate people, inform people of the abortion issue and how to build a culture of life, and how we can support each other through witness, prayer and monetary means.”

“I think the event was successful and well received by the audience,” she said. “They were interested, engaged and had questions.”

The committee has monthly meetings with the next meeting scheduled for June 10. For information, contact DiGiovacchino at 609-586-5646.
