A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 29 in St. James Church, Red Bank, for Elizabeth M. Darcy who died Aug. 25 in the Atrium at Navesink Harbor. She was 99.

Born in Troy, N.Y., Mrs. Darcy graduated from State University of New York at Albany, formerly NY State College for Teachers. She was a teacher in the Atlantic Highlands elementary school for 20 years, and was a communicant of St. James Parish where she was a member of the parish altar-rosary society. She was also a Secular Franciscan and an associate of the Sisters of Mercy.

Mrs. Darcy was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in 1969, and a brother, Joseph P. Driscoll, Jr., who died in 1959. She is survived by a daughter, Mercy Sister Catherine C. Darcy of Philadelphia; three sons, Timothy J. of Dayton, Ohio; Thomas C. of Phnom Pehn, Cambodia, and Dennis M. of Tyngsborough, Mass.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be sent to Sisters of Mercy, 1645 U.S. Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069 or at www.mercymidatlantic.org.
