Eighth annual Pastoral Care Retreat planned

The Diocesan Department of Pastoral Care will host its eighth annual Pastoral Care Retreat May 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in San Alfonso Retreat House, 755 Ocean Ave., Long Branch.  Registration and continental breakfast to held from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

The retreat is a day of renewal for all who journey with the sick; parish visitors of the sick, chaplains, clergy, religious, homebound visitors, employees and volunteers in nursing homes, hospices and hospitals, spiritual directors, lay ecclesial ministers, family caregivers, faith community nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The morning retreat leader will be Father Michael Manning, pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Rumson, who will speak on the topic “To Cure Occasionally, Relieve Often, Console Always.”  The afternoon retreat leader will be Vincentian Father Michael Shea, associate director of the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, who will discuss the topic “Reflection and Prayer for those on the Journey with the Sick.”
