Margaret Kane, an English teacher in St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, was named the school’s Educator of the Year for 2013.  The award is determined by votes of the faculty and staff at SJVHS.

Kane has been a teacher at St. John Vianney since 1998.  She graduated from St. Francis College, Brooklyn, a degree in English. She is currently enrolled at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, pursuing a master’s degree in Catholic education administration and leadership.  She has three children, 12-year old twins, Bridget and Cathleen, and an eight-year old son, Brendan.

Kane said, “I am honored to be named Educator of the Year and I am blessed to be able to work with the teachers and administration here. This school is like a second home to me and I wake up every morning thanking God for my job as well as my ‘second family.’"  Kane said that her favorite thing about teaching is that each day she gets to learn from her students.

John Niesz, assistant principal of academic affairs, said that, “Energy, enthusiasm and excitement are three qualities that Margaret Kane brings to education at SJV.”

SJV students at SJV expressed how Kane inspires many students, serves as a role model and is always willing to provide extra help.
