Disabilities services workshop slated for Neptune

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The N.J. Regional Family Support Planning Council of Monmouth and Ocean Counties will sponsor a public forum and providers fair for families of disabled adults March 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Children’s Center of Monmouth County, 1115 Green Grove Road, Neptune.  The guest presenter is Paul Aronsohn, named by N.J. Governor Philip Murphy last summer as head of the newly-created Office of the Ombudsman for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities and Their Families.

Aronsohn has worked for the administrations of President Bill Clinton and Gov. Jim McGreevey and served four years as mayor of Ridgewood. More recently, he served as a member of the Human and Children Service Committee for Governor-Elect Murphy’s Transition Team, which involved working with families and advocates of individuals with disabilities. Aronsohn is a board member of Heightened Independence & Progress and the Adler Aphasia Center, organizations that provide disability resources and advocacy.

Aronsohn will discuss the recent changes in New Jersey’s developmental disabilities service delivery system, and share ways to obtain these services for a loved one from early childhood through adulthood. Local Monmouth and Ocean County service providers will also be present.

The workshop is free, but pre-registration is requested. To RSVP, or for further information, call 800-216-1199 Option 2.
