Diocese offering hope, healing retreat for separated, divorced

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The diocesan Pastoral Care Department is sponsoring a daylong retreat for and led by divorced or separated Catholics from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in Donovan Catholic High School, Toms River.

The program, titled “Finding Hope and Healing After Divorce: From De-Construction to Re-Construction, with God’s Help!” will be held in the school’s second-floor lecture room and chapel. The day will begin with prayer, include presentations, small group sharing and lunch, and conclude with Mass.

Lillian Corrigan, author of “The Bricks and Sticks of Life,” and graduate of St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, and Rider University, Lawrenceville, will facilitate the retreat. Corrigan, a member of Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish, Hamilton, will share her personal story of endings and beginnings.

All those on the retreat’s team will consist of divorced Catholics.

Anyone looking to be with others who understand the pain and suffering caused by separation or divorce and who are looking for a day of learning, fellowship and inspiration are encouraged to attend. There also will be resources on divorced or separated support groups offered by parishes throughout the Diocese as well as brochures on the annulment process from the diocesan Tribunal.

The retreat costs $25. For more information or to register, visit www.dioceseoftrenton.org/pastoral-care
