Part of the $59 million donated by U.S. Catholics to disaster relief in 2017 was more than $800,000 that parishioners in the Diocese of Trenton gave in support of relief effort following Hurricane Harvey. As subsequent disasters followed on Harvey’s heels, the diocesan community was urged by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., to give directly to Catholic Charities USA.
In addition, scores of parishes and ministry groups in the Diocese mounted special collections of needed goods for those impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
