Diocesan RE:IMAGE Filmmakers workshop for teens to encore at WHYY

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The Trenton Diocese is once again inviting high school students with an interest in filmmaking to a two-part workshop at WHYY studios in Philadelphia where they can develop their skills and talents.

The workshop will take place on two consecutive Saturdays – Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Focusing on narrative filmmaking, it is open to any high school student aged 14 – 18 residing in or attending a church or school in Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth or Ocean Counties.

The cost is $30 per person and includes a pizza lunch both days.

Students must provide their own transportation to and from Philadelphia.

Limited to an enrollment of 15 students on a first come, first served basis, the immersion style filmmaking sessions will be conducted by the network’s staff professionals who will provide students with the unique opportunity to make a short film using WHYY production equipment under their guidance. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the world of filmmaking to high school students with an emphasis on creating films that fit into the mission of the RE:IMAGE film festival, using the medium to reflect the image of God in the world and humanity.

Students will be encouraged to use the workshop training when they go home to produce their own films to enter in the upcoming RE:IMAGE Film Festival scheduled for April 6, 2014 in Red Bank’s Count Basie Theater.

The deadline for registration is Sept. 9, 2013. To register or for more details, contact Frances Koukotas as 609-406-7410 or e-mail [email protected] For information and updates on the RE:IMAGE Film Festival, visit www.reimagefilmfestival.com
