Diocesan Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe

The Diocesan department of Youth, Marriage and Family Life will sponsor its annual Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe, a cultural event in honor of Our Lady the Mother of the Americas and of the unborn with a procession Dec. 1 from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 805 Pine St. to Holy Spirit Church, 705 Second Ave., both in Asbury Park.
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will be present for part of the day’s events which will include: the arrival of buses and breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at OLMC followed by the procession to HSC from 8:30 to 9 a.m., the entrance of individual parishes in to HSC at 9 a.m., followed by an opening prayer at 10:15 a.m. The rest of the day includes two workshops in English and Spanish for children and teens, a reflection from Father Rene Pulgarin, pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Mount Holly, Fire of Hope, serenade to the Blessed Mother, and music. At noon a theatrical performance by Fundacion de Huellas from El Salvador, will perform La Morenita in Holy Spirit Church. The events conclude at 5:30 p.m. with bus pick up in HSC parking lot.
