Despite lack of Internet access, sisters among highlights on social media

Week Two of 2016 is in the record books.

Among the posts that had the highest engagement on Facebook was one about a group of religious sisters who intentionally go about their work without radio and television and the Internet.

The Missionary Sisters of Charity in Asbury Park learned later than most – and by word of mouth – that Pope Francis had recognized a second miracle attributed to their founder, Mother Teresa.

Freelance photographer Ken Falls was on hand when Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., visited the sisters in August, and he reflected on a Facebook post about the sisters’ reaction to the latest news about their founder.

He wrote: God Bless them. To witness joy is to spend an hour in their company. We are blessed in the Diocese that these wonderful sisters are here.

Twelve other Diocese of Trenton faithful also liked or shared the post.

Another highlight this past week was kind words written about a man who made an impact on many players during his years as a coach.

After 10 seasons on the sidelines leading the Donovan Catholic High School football team, Coach Dan Duddy is hanging up his whistle.

But he isn't leaving Donovan Catholic. He'll continue to devote himself full-time to using sports to enlighten the journey of faith as the school's Pastoral Minister for Athletics.

Here’s what a few people had to say about Coach Duddy on Facebook and Twitter:

Bob Morris: I knew Coach Duddy and some of his family when he was at Central Regional. He is a good man and I’m sure he will continue to be a good witness and mentor. God bless him.

Jamie Daddario-Ferraro: What an amazing article on an amazing coach and man!! I am so saddened that my son will not be able to have him as a coach next year :(

Tommy Farrell (@TommyFarrell49): It was an honor to play for Coach Duddy. I'm glad I can be a part of this story. Thank you @TrentonMonitor!

Trenton Catholic Academy: Best wishes! God bless!
