Deacon Leonard B. Kruk Jr., 72

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. in Visitation Church, 755 Mantoloking Road, Brick, for Deacon Leonard B. Kruk Jr., who died Dec. 2. He was 72.

Deacon Kruk was born in Nanticoke, Pa., and spent much of his life in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. He was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Paterson in 1983. In 1995, he relocated to the Trenton Diocese and was granted faculties to function as a deacon in Visitation Parish.

Deacon Kruk also served as spiritual advisor to the Secular Order of Franciscans in Naples, Fla., and as chaplain at Florida Gulf Coast University. He was also active with the St. Vincent de Paul Meals on Wheels.

Deacon Kruk was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Helen Kruk; a son, James, and brother, Stan Kruk.

Deacon Kruk is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen Salfi; three children, Lisa (John) Romano of Sparta; Len (Victoria) Kruk of Kinnelon, and Jason (Lucy) Kruk of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters; six grandchildren, and
many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to one of the following: Visitation Parish, 730 Lynnwood Ave., Brick, NJ 08723-5397; the St. Jude Children’s Research Center, 262 North Danny Thomas Blvd., Memphis, TN 38105; the Diocese of Trenton, Diaconate Office, 701 Lawrenceville Rd., Trenton, NJ, 08638; and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Visitation Parish or The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753.
