Deacon Frank E. Giglio, served in St. Isaac Jogues Parish

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 9 in St. Isaac Jogues Parish, Marlton, for Deacon Frank E. Giglio, who died June 3. He was 83.

The deacon had ministered in the Marlton parish since 2000.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, he earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in theology from St. Mary’s University, Winona, Minn. Deacon Giglio was a certified mortgage banker at Western Savings Bank and eventually rose to the rank of senior vice president. He also served as a senior vice president in a number of other mortgage companies, was founding president of the Pennsylvania Mortgage Banker’s Association, served as a lecturer and panelist at conferences and authored a textbook on mortgage servicing. He retired from the GMAC Commercial Mortgage Company in 1998 as a senior executive vice president.

Deacon Giglio was ordained to the permanent diaconate of the Diocese of Trenton May 8, 1996, by Bishop John C. Reiss. He ministered as a deacon in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish until 2000, when he was invited to minister in St. Isaac Jogues, Marlton, where he served until his death. The deacon and his wife, the late Theresa (Grab), taught and directed the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults for more than 25 years.

Deacon Giglio served as the director of deacons for the Diocese of Camden for three years and served on the council of deacons for the Dicese of Trenton for six years. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a Past Grand Knight of Council 1082 and a Past Faithful Navigator of the John Tatham Assembly 648, Burlington County.

The deacon was predeceased by his parents, brother and wife. He is survived by his sister, Theresa Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
