Deacon Edward R. Herr, served in Eatontown parish

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 20 in St. Dorothea Church, Eatontown, for Deacon Edward R. Herr, who died June 15. He was 77.
Deacon Herr earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Over the course of his professional career, he served as engineering manager with the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command at Fort Monmouth for 26 years and as a senior engineer and program contractor with BAE Systems and other government contractors before retiring in 2010.
Deacon Herr was ordained a deacon May 13, 1989, by Bishop John C. Reiss and ministered in St. Dorothea Parish through 2017. He was also a member of the Eatontown Knights of Columbus and the Oceanport Lions Club.
Deacon Herr was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Tinie. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Camille Herr; a daughter Laura (Louis Amerini) of Red Bank; a grandson and many cousins, family and friends.
Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
