Deacon Edward J. Moresco Sr., at 73

Msgr. Richard C. Brietske, diocesan chancellor emeritus, was principal celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Highlands, July 27 for Deacon Edward J. Moresco, Sr., who died July 23. He was 73.
Homilist for the Mass was Father William Dunlap, pastor.
Born in 1937 in Staten Island, N.Y., Deacon Moresco moved to Middletown in 1988. He was ordained a deacon by Bishop John M. Smith May 13, 2000, in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton.
At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Deacon Moresco was involved in a number of ministries including visitations to the hospitalized and homebound, wedding and baptismal preparation classes, training of altar servers, as well as preaching at Masses and presiding at wake services. Deacon Moresco was also responsible for initiating Eucharistic Adoration on Monday evenings in the church.
Deacon Moresco is survived by his wife, Rosalie; six children: Lisa, Scott, Kenneth, Alison, Edward Jr., and Carly, and 13 grandchildren.
Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
