July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Catholic Women of Zion Chapter I will hold a Mother/Daughter retreat day May 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Parish, 31 Asbury Rd., Farmingdale. The day will begin with Mass at 9 in the church and followed by time for prayer, music, sharing, networking and prayers for healing.

Speaker will be Mary Floriano Escueta who serves as director of music ministries in St. Dorothea Parish, Eatontown.

Floriano Escueta holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College Conservatory and a master’s degree from Temple University, Philadelphia. In addition to directing multiple adult and children’s vocal ensembles, she leads a handbell and chime choir. During the retreat Floriano Escueta will be accompanied by expert pianist Mary Kay Mason.

Floriano Escueta’s talents led her to teacher work as an equity actor. She worked in a variety of musical venues and performed in diverse roles in regional theater and opera until she was inspired to become a professional cantor and church musician. In addition to her work in ministry, she performs with the vocal trio, “A night on Broadway Company” and sings as a soloist with “Opera by the Sea,” on the boardwalk in Bradley Beach on Monday evenings during the summer. Floriano Escueta has been married for 30 years and is the mother of two children.

Admission for the retreat day is $20 and includes lunch. Payment may be made at the door. To register, call 732-363-0139, ext. 777 or online at www.cwoz.org no later than May 3.
