Creation narratives will be focus of Scripture study
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
St. Catharine Parish, Holmdel, will host a Scripture study on the Creation Narratives.
Presenter will be Father Garry Koch, parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish, Toms River.
Sessions will meet Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Among the most widely recognizable and most commonly misunderstood Biblical texts are the creation narratives in the Book of Genesis. There are other Biblical passages that offer further insight into the cosmogony of the ancient Israelites and the early Church. In the Scripture study, participants will consider the motif of the creation story as found in the ancient Middle East and then focus attention on the presentation and interpretation of the Biblical narratives within the framework of Catholic theology and tradition.
Registration fee is $30. Make checks payable to Father Garry Koch and send to St. Catharine Parish, 108 Middletown Rd., Holmdel, N.J. 07733. Checks may also be collected on the first night of the session.
To register, contact Kathy McBurnie at 732-842-3963, ext. 13
