Families and individuals with deep questions about their life paths and how faith can influence them have an opportunity to explore those questions during the “Come Alive: Holy. Healthy. Free.” speaking engagement at 7 p.m. July 25 in St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square.

The talk, which will take place in the parishFerrante Hall at 4620 Nottingham Way, will feature Dr. Peter Howard, founder of Heroic Families, who will address questions such as, “What are your personal and family dreams?”; “What is holding you back from pursuing them?”; and fears of failure and success, as well as lack of trust and finances.

Dr. Howard is a Catholic entrepreneur, renowned international speaker, author, professor, theologian and Mariologist. He holds a doctorate degree in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome. Born and raised in Bordentown, he has enjoyed sharing his faith with others since college, serving in teaching and media capacities since 2003.

“My greatest inspiration behind speaking is my love for Our Blessed Mother (my doctorate specializes in Mariology) and that of Venerable Fulton Sheen,” Dr. Howard explained. “He is my hero, and what I do is largely inspired by his person, his wisdom and wit, and his prophetic teaching that is needed for our times.”

Dr. Howard has been speaking publicly since 2005, going nationwide in 2015 and international in 2017, speaking at the National Marian Fatima Congress in the Philippines, along with Father Michael Gaitley, author of “33 Days to Morning Glory.”

“I greatly enjoy the dynamics of live speaking and leading parish missions. It’s where the rubber meets the road and actually meeting people increases the impact of the message,” he said. “Learning their stories while sharing mine in the midst of an important message is what makes speaking to live audiences such a joy. Going to live speaking events has greatly impacted my own life and is something I always wanted to do for others as well because I believe I have a very important to share that will radically change the lives of those who embrace it.”

HeroicFamilies.com was founded, said Dr. Howard, as a response to the need for families to take back control, “to help them discover their purpose and live an integrated and dynamic Catholic life that is holy, healthy and free.” The organization helps families through speaking engagements, parish missions and retreats, using its products available at aromaRosary.com, and through professional wellness coaching outreach.

“We are branching out into leading pilgrimages in 2019, about which we are very excited,” Dr. Howard continued. “When Catholics realize and embrace that our faith is to be lived in every aspect of our being ... then they will find themselves truly come alive – living what I call the ‘360 Catholic’ life.”

Dr. Howard wants to help families in particular to discover their purpose, remove barriers that keep them from pursuing their God-inspired passions, and to see Marian devotion become central to family life.

“The more we seek and love Mary, the more we discover and love Jesus and his Church,” he added. “More practically, we have got to make the faith our own. And that only comes through an honest, trusting and prayerful relationship with Jesus. There are no substitutes for this relationship. Parents have to live their faith and fathers have to lead their families spiritually, not just food not the table. The Catholic faith is a living faith. So it must be lived if one is to remain in it.”

There is no charge for the event, but a free will offering will be taken. Participants can register online at StGregorytheGreatChurch.org/ComeAlive.
