Clergy Association plans panel discussions

Committed to bringing faith communities together in worship, action and learning, the Freehold Clergy Association offers panel discussions and special education opportunities to explore facets of Islam, Christianity and Judaism. The purpose of the programs is to build mutual understanding and acceptance and explore the differences and commonalities of the three faith traditions.

A schedule of upcoming panel discussions follows:

The Holocaust: How Our Faith Traditions Understand and Learn from this Dark Period in History, Feb. 20, 7 p.m. Temple Shaari Emeth, 400 Craig Road, Manalapan. Call 732-462-7744..

People of the Book: Our Sacred Texts and How We Read Them, March 13, 7 p.m., The Islamic Center, Bait Wali-e-Asr, 235 Georgia Road, Freehold. (When entering the Islamic Center, shoes are removed and guests are requested to dress modestly). Space is limited. To make a reservation, email [email protected].

Welcoming the Stranger: How Our Faiths Respond to the Immigrant, April 10, 7:15 p.m., St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold.

The panel at each session will be Fatima Jaffari, educator at the Imam-a-Zamana Foundation in Freehold; Msgr. Sam Sirianni, rector of St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold; Rabbi Melinda Panken of Temple Shaari Emeth, Manalapan; the Rev. Jonathan Elsensohn, minister of the First Baptist Church of Freehold.
