Charismatic women's conference coming to Middletown

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The “Freedom!”Women’s Conference will be hosted Nov. 10 from 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in St. Mary, Mother of God Parish, Middletown.

The theme focuses on women coming into the freedom of the Kingdom of God, and learning how to stand in the knowledge of God’s call to be set free – to be a light in a dark world, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Sponsored by the Diocese of Trenton Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the conference will include 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Father Jeffrey Kegley, pastor of St. Mary Parish, and internationally recognized Charismatic speaker Maria Vadia.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Vadia was 10 years old when she and her family fled to Miami, Florida to escape the communist regime in her native country. She attended Catholic schools and Sunday Mass, but had no personal relationship with Jesus. Later married to a wealthy man, she was gripped by materialism; yet in the midst of everything the world could offer, she knew that something was missing.

Vadia was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1987 and consecrated her life to Christ and to the preaching of the Gospel. She is active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Archdiocese of Miami, and has spoken at many charismatic conferences. She is founder of the “Jesus is Lord” chapter of Magnificat in Miami, and a member of the Advisory Board of Magnificat, International, a ministry for Catholic Women. She has traveled around America, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica, Mexico, Malta, Ghana, Nicaragua, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Canada and India, bringing a message of faith, salvation and healing.

Vadia ministers to various prayer groups, including “The King Jesus Prayer Group” which she has led since 1992, as well as at the Miami Women’s Detention Center and Genesis House, a home for the homeless with AIDS (presently closed). She leads a weekly Bible class, “Healing Through The Word,” in her parish of St. Louis Catholic Church. She has authored seven books: “There’s Power In Your Tongue”(available in English and Spanish), “Pressing On In The Spirit,” “An Arrow In His Hand,” “Break Open Your Wells,” “Healing is For You!,” Victory in the Eye Gate” and her latest, “No More Orphans!” Vadia is the mother of four children: Ricky, Victor, Eddy and Rosario.

Registration for the conference is $25, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. Register at www.dotccr.org/events. St. Mary Mother of God Church is located at 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road. For more information, email [email protected], or call Nancy at 732-245-1980.
