Chancery staff shares prayer, camaraderie during Holy Week retreat
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Staff from the Chancery gathered for a morning of recollection on the "Seven Last Words of Christ" in St. Ann Church, Lawrenceville.
"We strive to do God's work for the Diocese," reflected Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., in his remarks. "It is important to pause and renew a sense of spiritual purpose."
Organized by Chancellor/CAO Anthony Mingarino, and Director of Catholic Social Services, Daughter of Charity Sister Joanne Dress, several years ago, these retreats in Advent and Lent are special moments of prayer for Chancery officials and staff. This year, Msgr. John K. Dermond, a retired priest of the Diocese, Msgr. Leonard F. Troiano, diocesan episcopal vicar for planning, and Vincentian Father Martin McGeough, diocesan coordinator of jail and prison ministry, shared their thoughts on Christ's final words from the Cross. Mark Wilson, diocesan director of cemeteries, introduced the day with Immaculate Heart of Mary Sister Mary Agnes Ryan, director of the Office of Catechesis, in the leading of morning prayer. Vicar General Msgr. Thomas N. Gervasio concluded the morning with Mass.
