Center offers support group for Sandy victims

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

It is hard to deny the tremendous devastation that Hurricane Sandy – later renamed Superstorm Sandy – had on communities throughout the Northeast, with towns in the Diocese of Trenton being no exception.

What might be more difficult to see, however, is the spiritual and emotional toll that the natural disaster left behind in its path.

The St. Francis Community Center, Long Beach, is offering a Hurricane Sandy Support Group, which will meet every Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. beginning Feb. 17.

The group, which is free to attend, is being offered to help address issues with stress, depression and the feelings of being overwhelmed among those impacted by the storm. The group is confidential, and organizers seek to offer a safe and open environment for professionals and peers to discuss the effects of the storm.

Meetings will be held in the center, which is located at 4700 Long Beach Boulevard.

Those interested in learning more should contact Alyssa or Danielle at 609-494-1554.
